When you market products and services on the internet, it is called Internet Marketing. There are various other names for it, like e-marketing, online marketing and web marketing. Internet marketing is really wide in its reach and scope, as it relates to both the technical and the design aspect of marketing. It brings together research, delivery systems, advertising, testing, design, sales, and customer relations management.

Internet marketing is driven by both content and data. Search engine marketing is really important to the discussion between the two, and this means promoting digital content, achieving maximum visibility, and attracting more traffic to make sales. This creates an elaborate system of content creation, measurement, delivery, customer response, and tweaking.

Search Engines, Networks & Value

Almost everything we access on the internet these days is through search engines like Google and Bing. They act as gatekeepers and curators of most content on the web. Complex algorithms of data strings are used by them in order to determine the relevance of websites and their content, and rank them as per the relevance. PageRank (which also happens to come from the name of one of Google’s founders, Larry Page) is a system used by Google to assign a value of importance to websites. Websites with valuable and relevant content achieve higher PageRank than those who don’t have such content. Many other indicators are used to determine this too, but you get the gist.

These ranks are really important and need to be kept high and unwavering if you want your internet marketing business to be successful.
